Yes, things are changing! A Dad’s shower is becoming more commonplace in the past few years. Used to be that the new baby was taken care of by the mother, but now dads are getting more involved in raising their children. So a Dad’s shower makes perfect sense.

A Dad’s shower probably won’t be as heavily themed as a shower given to the mommy. The shower could actually revolve around a poker party or a ball game. If you know the baby is a boy, you could incorporate a “That’s my boy!” theme, or “Daddy’s Little Athlete.” If the baby is a girl you could do a “Daddy’s Little Princess” theme. With a Dad’s shower, decorations are kept to a minimum, and more emphasis is placed on hearty “man” food and drink.

The Dad’s shower is usually given by a close male friend or co-worker of the father-to-be. Games aren’t usually played, but if the shower is held at a home, video games or ball games might be good. The shower can also be held in a favorite bar or restaurant.
